Can I pay at Daiso Korea with a foreign credit card?

SHORT ANSWER

Foreign cards are widely used at Daiso Korea: payments with foreign cards there grew 50% in 2024, 60% in 2025 and another 70% in the first three months of 2026, according to Korea JoongAng Daily. Daiso does not publish a list of accepted card networks for its stores, so carry a second card or some cash in case one is declined.

01

What to do now

  1. Carry a second card from a different network, or some Korean won, in case your first card is declined.
  2. If a card is declined, ask the cashier to try again or use a staffed register instead of a self-checkout.
  3. Keep the receipt. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, and you will need the receipt and the card.
02

Who owns the resolution

Which cards work depends on the store's payment terminal and your card issuer. Daiso has not published a store-wide list.

The policy question: Can I pay at Daiso Korea with a foreign credit card?
Useful context I found: Foreign cards are widely used at Daiso Korea: payments with foreign cards there grew 50% in 2024, 60% in 2025 and another 70% in the first three months of 2026, according to Korea JoongAng Daily. Why this policy exists

Daiso's official FAQ covers payment methods only for its online store, Daiso Mall. For Daiso Mall it lists Korean credit and debit cards; Naver Pay, Kakao Pay, Toss Pay, PAYCO, Samsung Pay, Apple Pay and Hana Pay; bank transfer; and Daiso and culture gift vouchers. It does not give a list for the physical stores.

What is on record for stores is the growth in foreign card payments reported in May 2026 (50% in 2024, 60% in 2025, 70% in Q1 2026). That shows foreign cards are used there, not that every card network works at every terminal.

Two things foreign visitors often run into:

· Membership points: the Daiso membership is signed up through Korean identity verification. The FAQ describes sign-up only for Korean nationals (including Koreans living abroad with a Korean phone, certificate or i-PIN), and does not describe a route for foreign visitors. You can shop without it.

· Refunds go back to the card you paid with, and Daiso says the cancellation can take up to about 7 days to show.
