FANOMENON 2027 · SEOUL · MONEY FLOW
A foreign fan does not only buy a concert ticket. They book a flight, convert currency, pay a platform, sleep in someone’s inventory, shop, ride, eat, refund, return—and sometimes buy the companies behind the culture.
Headline “economic impact” is not one company’s revenue and not the artist’s income. It is a chain of separate transactions, margins and risks.
These are not the same category of information.
Opening event on Dec. 2; main program follows through Dec. 12.
Concerts and a fandom-focused awards program in Chang-dong; exhibitions and experiences in Goyang.
The Presidential Committee on Popular Culture Exchange announced the plan; HYBE, SM, JYP and YG are forming a joint venture.
Concerts, awards, food, fashion, beauty, games, webtoons, film, drama and animation.
Not yet an outcome. The public material available to AMS does not expose the full model behind these estimates. We will track the assumptions and compare them with post-event results.
Every step changes the decision-maker, fee owner, evidence and refund rail.
Fan → airline / ticket seller / insurer
A lineup announcement can trigger non-refundable bookings before the event contract is visible.
Fan → card network / issuer / acquirer / FX provider
The displayed won price is not necessarily the final home-currency cost. Spread, card fee and dynamic currency conversion can stack.
Fan → platform fee / host or hotel / tax / payment processor
The platform, host and payment company can control different pieces of the same refund.
Fan → transit operator / franchise / brand / landlord / platform
Small purchases hide the channel economics: tourist convenience, late hours and small-batch logistics all carry a price.
Fan → ticketing / venue / promoter / agency / artist / merch partners
One fan can generate many album units, tickets, votes and purchases; headline sales do not equal unique buyers or artist income.
Fan → broker / listed company / fund / future trip
Loving an artist is not the same as owning the artist’s economics. A listed agency share includes every act, contract, cost and governance risk.
A bad equilibrium rewards persistence, hides the decision-maker and makes the least powerful worker absorb the emotion.
Wants cash back, a replacement, or a reason that makes sense.
Accept · document · escalate · charge backWants to preserve revenue and avoid an abuse precedent.
Deny · rebook · partially refund · absorb lossWants fees, trust and transaction volume without owning every loss.
Deflect · mediate · share cost · exceptionally payWants the case closed but often controls none of the money.
Apologize · repeat policy · investigate · escalateThe fan learns that politeness has a lower payoff than escalation. The platform learns that paying only the most persistent claims is cheaper than making the rule clear for everyone.
The page becomes more valuable as contracts replace announcements.
